damn.

so andre, wat does he do now?

not sure...but last time i came across him was at Fashion Week in NYC and they say he was working as a Consultant for Diddy at Bad Boy....

my my my how the tables had turned..... :russ:

he fukked up alot of situations ..such as the time he became head of Motown....he damn thier bankrupted them

but this wouldn't be the FIRST time Diddy has come to "save" Andre

actually according to one of my writer friends who is a credible source from uptown NYC...

he said the SOURCE of the Diddy / Suge feud was actually ignited by Harrell

Diddy and Suge were actually COOL ..good friends during the early 90's during the time when Diddy was still working for Harrell

alledgedly Suge was conspiring to "snatch" Jodeci and Mary J. Blige off of the Uptown/Harrell's roster with the HELP of Diddy who was willing to assist based on the fact that Suge convinced Diddy that not only Jodeci and Mary whom Diddy had A&R'd were being exploited , but that he (Diddy) wasn't EATING RIGHT as well...:lupe:

Suge had pitched the idea of a joint management/branding team to be headed by him and diddy , which ties in all the mysterious street ties they both carried i.e (zip, meech, haitian jack etc.)

Diddy was down with the plan as it SEEMED till it came time to actually step to HARELL and make things happen.....

Suge's approach as AGGRESSIVE as it came across was a bit too much for Diddy who perfered the Diplomatic approach along with the fact he was still subordinate to Harrell whom he worked for, so Diddy backed OUT...

Suge's bitterness was based on Diddy's unwillingness to be commited to the cause of OVERTHROWING the "old guard" moguls of the music industry such as Andre Harrell and Russell Simmons whom he felt were nothing more than a bunch of house negro latchkeys for the Jewish "Hollywood based" elite.

And Suge was hellbent on making Diddy aware of his rage which he felt was based on disloyalty , which was further aggravated by Diddy refusing to sit down with Suge to iron things out on a number of occasions business wise which Diddy chose to avoid , instead pursuing his effort to solidify distrubution for the Bad Boy brand which was cosigned by some more "hollywood n1ggas" (FACE and REID) whom Suge despised.

So suge was relentless in venting his rage at Diddy whom he saw as "weak and cowardly" like the time he voiced his opinion on Diddy's business arrangement with statements like he made in DETAILS MAGAZINE stating ..."Diddy can't spend or purchase anything without going to his "daddy" Clive Davis for a dollar or two...and Jermaine Durpi has to do the same with Tommy Mottola".....

Basically Suge was trying to usher in a time which we are basically seeing now with black music moguls and artists wanting TOTAL AUTONOMY from the music distrbutors by owning thier own masters, publishing and engaging in only joint ventures i.e (Cash Money, Tech 9ine) which allows the urban mogul or artist some sense of soveriengty.

Although his (SUGE) tactics were a bit "hostile" ...you gotta respect his vision :lupe:

Wasn't Suge trying to do a joint distribution company with J. Prince and Irv Gotti at one point?

yeah...

and the brilliant text the "LABRYNITH" speaks lightly on that how the Feds were observing these "meetings"

:upsetfavre:

and was like :whoa: thier little niccas and hit all of them with cases.......

just like Dame Dash said in an interview I got to make money my way, but when you get into distribution, it gets a little gangster, you know what I’m saying?[/B] :violent:

http://www.cedricmuhammad.com/chris...-hip-hoppreneur-™-commentary-november-4-2009/

them white folks are NOT going to let any of these niccas no matter how high and mighty they may seem on that Forbes list..get into the DISTRIBUTION GAME....these networks in fashion , music and liquor have ties going back centuries back to the Old World days of Europe...where niccas didn't even qualify as serfs....

so ain't no way in hell, they gonna CHANGE that up in the 21st century.....

and they will do WHATEVER they can to KEEP RICH A$$ BROTHERS from even becoming enterprising on that level....whether it means LOCKING brothers up i.e (david hyatt) or dying of suspicious causes i.e (chris lighty??)

because when u talking Distrubtion , you talking beyond capitilisim, your speaking of Politics and Globalisim or as even Prince said something of an almost spritual magnitude which is the god giving right to OWN YOURSELF (intellectual property) and share with the globe freely..."

Dave Chappelle knew what was up!! :youngsabo:

"When NICCAS get POLITICAL and start to Maneuver..they give u a HUNDRED YEARS, man they did it to HOOVER!" - 50 Cent

call it conspiriacy, call it racisim, call it oppresion, call it illuminati what ever the fukk u want, just realize it's gonna take more than a OBAMA like figure or a BLACK JESUS to change "that game".......

what's needed is REAL SOLIDARITY and MASS NETWORKING and MOVEMENT of alike minded people with not only shared ideals but resources.

Uptown Records was a hot label in the late-80s/early-90s. It was run by Andre Harrell, who used to be part of a rap group called Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. He put on Heavy D, Teddy Riley, etc. etc.

Puff got hired as an intern, who had a knack for knowing what all the new hot shyt was, and he was a party promoter who put on a lot of big parties in NY and DC... so he eventually got promoted to A&R of Uptown.

As A&R, he took artists and molded their image, sound, etc... the main two being Mary J. Blige and Jodeci. Before then, they were signed to Uptown but were on the shelf because they had no idea what to do with them.

Eventually it got to a point where he was the dude behind all of Uptown's hottest projects. He was exec-producing them all and practically running shyt.

But he wasn't running shyt cause Andre was still the boss. Either way, he couldn't fire Puff cause he was the driving force by then. He ended up giving Puff a sub-label under Uptown that was gonna focus on putting out harder hip-hop stuff. This is when Puff signed BIG and Jesse West, started recruiting producers like Mo Bee and Lord Finesse, and called the sub-label Bad Boy.

But Puff's ego got a lil' out of control to the point where people were complaining to Andre about how obnoxious Puff was getting. So once Puff was starting to scream on Andre in meetings and publicly saying he was why Uptown was hot, Andre gave him the boot.

BUT other people in the industry knew Puff's moves and felt like he did have a track record and was probably sitting on some more hot shyt to come... so major labels started hitting him up to see if he wanted to run his label with them. He ended up doing a deal with Arista to distribute Bad Boy.

The rest... :takedat:

I got the Craig Mack - Get Down 12" somewhere. Pretty sure the label says 'Puff Daddy Records' or something like that instead of Bad Boy.

Can't remember if it was distributed by Uptown or Arista though... have to go diggin I guess
