Old heads, was '98 DMX as big as '05 Jeezy, '15 Future, or '03 50 Cent?

I tried to tell booth posters in another thread that at one point Jeezy was on T.I and Lil Wayne level in terms of popularity....
nikka no the fukk he wasnt stop saying this dumb ass shyt. Especially not no fukking T.I. Buzzing in the streets aint no fukking popularity. Tip was damn near an A list celebrity in 05. Jeezy was far from that. nikka said "05 run" its a run if it just run year you dumb goose. Cant believe youre evolved from me SMH.

nikka, ain’t you in your late 30’s? :gucci:

How was you not listening to radio or even watching music videos on BET and MTV at that time?

:yeshrug: I didn't have cable till '02. So obviously I didn't have access to MTV, BET, & VH1 in '98. Plus, I was only 9-10 years old in '98.
I probably only casually listened to just Pop radio back in '98. It wasn't till 2000, I had my own radio & tuned into the local Hip-Hip/R&B stations.

To answer your question, He had TWO #1 albums in the same year, a movie, and about 10 guest appearances in an era that you weren't emailing your verses. This was the 2 inch tape era. That dude was everywhere in 1998. Can't compare the new eras to the 2 inch tape era. I'm still confused to how he was able to record all of those songs, star in a movie, shoot videos, and still be on crack.

He was offered a million dollar bonus to get that second album done before the year ended. That's motivation like a MF.

But X was clean during that run. He wasn't smoking or doing anything during the time in '98-'99.
