Lo and behold: Run DMC vanishes and LL remains. I was rooting for Kool Moe Dee. He invented the fast rap style singlehandedly and he dogged Busy Bee. I thought he could take Cool J out. El-wrongo. Cool J knows art of war. That's why he's undefeated in single combat. Bis was better than him. Bis' dis song goes down in history while Cool J's is forgotten... and LL STILL bodied Bis.

LL is not the goat.
Yet, he clearly has distinct skills in certain categories.
Where, he is the clearly defined best.
Clearly he is rap's greatest commercial artist ever.
Personally,...
He is top five and tied at three with bdk.
When it comes to skills and the commercialization of rap in the new school way of thought.
As both had to be the industry's sacrificial lambs for the new school way of thought to create music for gateway viability as a science.
That, hopefully would not lead to the same rnb pathways of sugarhill, to the force md's.
Bdk, succumbed much earlier, but was so distinctly and soundly ahead of his time commercially.
That he fell prey to what old school way of thought commercial acts did prematurely.
LL on the other hand.
Continued to actually progress as an emcee.
Under major scrutiny and also attacks from major publications.
Who used to be non-authorities in rap, like rolling stones witch hunting him and krs.
So, he also suffered more negative backlash systematically from major outlets and the combined scrutiny culturally set his permeation culturally back.
Yet and still, unlike others.
LL always strived to improve in age at a higher will as a writer and emcee than any other rappers in history.
That is not named krs,....where he went and learned how to make credible convincing commercial submissions.
By an exact science and clearly no one in the history of rap will ever eclipse that science and skillset either.

Only reason, he is not the goat is.
He never revealed duality early on content wise and had to be the flagship model for an entire corporation.
Which is also the standard bearer for rap labels all time.
So, in that he had to sacrifice not being able to be conscious, consistently.
Like how he was a fixture behind the scenes of self destruction, the video shoot.
Yet, defjam was against him being featured on the actual work and song.
Not to mention, realistically he made one of the best conscious records ever.
On14 shots, called all we got left is the beat.
Yet it was close to five years after the fact.
That type of content was expected of him in the market.
So it is ignored, and he is not credited for it or the message at all.
On top of probably being the inventor of emo from another record on 14 shots, doggy down from content to production selection.
Also,...he learned how to make the inspirational record by his own science as well.
Evident by his songs about his grandmother and the content of father.
Plus, the actual best record about Obama.
That, i am still heated about him not being selected to be the rapper who performed at the inaugural.
Or, who flanks the president.
As real talk,...ll is the actual only commercial candidate to pick.
if we were going to choose a commercially successful rapper, to represent the united states.
Obama will have to answer for picking jayz as a presidential representative for black culture.
As it should not be a choice about money or business.
Of which,...ll is actually one of the richest rappers in history via actual liquid capital.
From publishing to sales and his settlement with fubu.
Which was a fifth of a split of fubu at its height as a company when it was bought out.
Plus a very large film production deal that occurred before fiddy's as well.

So, LL has liquid capital on the same lines as the puff's, master p's, fiddy's, and jayz.
Plus, ll's worth is not priced by assets or liquidizing a company.
This is in actual liquid capital like fiddy.
Unlike jayz and Diddy who are equated to pieces of a what if's.
A company was worth this after being liquidized.
Which is not true worth as it is subjective to what a deal and the dire times and market allow it to be closed for.
LL has actual tangible liquid capital, not company speculations of an close during buyout.
After a split of assets for clothing and apparel companies like jayz and diddy.
Of which LL has owned stake in companies like rocawear and sean John on three occassions.
with troop, fubu, and sears todd smith line.

so, real talk.....
Anyone who disses LL, wholely.
Without consideration of his full body of work.
One, i know in general is not a good rapper at all.
Two, that person is a fukking buffoon.
As they have ignored the large body for a onesided jaded view of a particular window.
Of which many say phenomenon was the album in which this occurred.
Yet phenomenon was a ep tracklisted styled release.
That was marketed with a safe tracklist.
As LL was entering writing his biography and children's books.
Not to mention, father is a blueprint based record.
as a science on making records for commercial consumption about family.
4321, is the continuation of the commercially viable posse cut.
Plus, two records on phenomenon are blueprint records on how to use melody in songwriting on another dollar.
Plus, the famous whisper flow is executed to all time birth and perfection on the title cut as well.
So, real talk,..
If you look at each of his releases.
Plus what was going on, in his envelope of business directionwise.
You can see a lot of his reviews miss this.
Plus, heinously attack his quality of work.
without paying or taking full consideration into what fully occurred during that release.

also,..the witchhunt for ll was all spawned by rolling stones on wwap.
Which is unjustily been given poor marks.
When realistically,..that album is the modern commercial rap blueprint.
Research LL,..
As he is one of the few artist and one of the best.
At recreating series of his own records as well.
Of which only krs is better at.
Which is more based on sheer content culturally bar to bar, with no commercial highsiding to deter from his legacy.
Ll was not afforded the luxury like krs was.
To be able to showcase duality, and knowledge.
As LL was the flagship for the best rap label in the history of rap.
Of which, LL had to sacrifice a lot more when it came to duality in content.
Incomparison to the goat, krs one.

I'm bad = the best gateway rap record for a young black boy, to be upfront and forward about his the importance of his confidence and masculinity.

Hearing I'm bad for the first time is needed for any black boy of any young age in any generation.

Thanks to everyone that posted. I appreciate it. Hearing ll reminds me a lot of today's talent, sometimes. I almost think the super lyrical rhymes are gonna be looked as a part of the 90s era and hip hop is going to move past and evolve in the right direction, hopefully.

I dunno about that, I mean how can you really evolve past super lyrical rhymes? (I'm speaking in terms of the MC's pen game, and how things are said)

If by evolve you mean the standard of lyricism not really meaning life and death for an MC, then we've sorta reached that point.

The only thing I think that would seriously evolve in Hip Hop is it's production. Unless another rapper pops up and creates a new style for nikkas to run with like Rakim/Kool G Rap and so on.

Anyway,..what is really funny about that history is.
Silver fox used to stalk moe dee for this battle.
Of which moe dee used to always duck.
So, the irony of moe dee challenging busy bee and later LL.
Is another exposal of moe Dee's hoe tendencies.
As moe dee, had no excuse to duck fox.
As, fox was of his calibur and legend on all levels comparable to moe dee, back then.
I could understand if fox was a nobody,...yet he was not.
Fox was a grass roots street legend in hip hop.
Plus, arguably for that time and still to this day one of the best battle emcees ever.
As argueably,...biters in the city is the best battle record in the history of rap.
Profoundly, lyric and cadence wise fox was ahead of his time.
To the point most rnb collab records and most skilled emcees are barely using the skills he possessed.
Not to mention, fox produced and wrote all the parts of his group, the fantasy III's records as well.
Of which in the history of rap as a whole.
They are profoundly some of the best records in the history of rap.
That showcase and exhibit skill.
that far exceed what any rappers can or will do in the future.

I remember as kid, All I heard about was LL Cool j because my Uncle used to listen to him constantly and My sister had a crush on him. I don't remember alot about the beef with Kool Moe Dee... I just know when LL dropped I'm bad it was a wrap. Dude was sitting on top of the rap world.

Rap wasn't as big back then so the beefs were short lived. At the end of the day ll put out hot after hit while moe d had 2 major hits.

rap music was huge then.
Not to mention,...

LL and cool moe dee had one of the longest active battles in rap history.
Not to mention the animosity behind it goes back to when like LL was thirteen years old or some shyt.
