I think ECW was what got me really into wrestling. I was a big WWE mark when I was younger like everyone else, but once I saw ECW for the first time in like 96 or so, it changed everything. So ahead of its time and truly was the precursor to the attitude era. Once it sputtered out, I transitioned nicely into ROH, other indies, Japan etc. IMO its influence cannot be overstated.

Always hated the product. I remember my pops took me to an event back in like 98. That's the first time I realized the majority of wrestling fans over the age of 21 were absolute losers

Had to tape trade heavy to get it here since it didn't air locally until late 99

It gets unfairly dismissed by certain segments of wrestling fans but a LOT of the stuff cats dig now from wrestling and honestly MMA even originated in that bingo hall
how were them tape trading days i was too yoing so i only watched what came on tv for skme reason my young mind thought wcw and wwf just trained the wreslers themselves in 99 i first saw an low rent indy show on local tv i was like:krs: There's more wresling. I feel I missed on some good times i heard of the fmw and japan tapes circulation

It was fun involved a whole lotta trusting folks tho. Never got burned on a deal thankfully Japanese and pancrase tapes were the bait I used to get ECW stuff.
