Imaginary Player was the quintessential album cut.
I didn't know this song was a Ma$e diss.

remakes aren't for US. They are for the new audience. When the Thing remake was released in 1982, it got negative reviews. 40+ years later it's seen a classic and my generation now diss the 2011 remake as if the '82 version wasn't also a remake. Yeah, Cardi B's song isn't for US, it's for her fanbasethis dude ray daniels is wishy washy
but i do agree with his point that Imaginary Players is one of those tracks that should not be touched
i said that when the Cardi track was being teased a couple says before the release
Those songs set Jay back because he lusted for commercial gain, in a pathetic way, copying Bad Boy and playing a role he couldn't keep up.it was never a "hit" because it was never a single. One of Jay's best albums that got overshadowed by 2 of the worst songs on the album as lead singles. So many dope songs on the album that are far better than Sunshine and The City is Mine
Yep, that's pretty much it. But Jay recovered, Mic Geronimo didn't. 1997 was a fukked up year cuz everyone in the mainstream wanted to use that Bad Boy blueprint as a single. Those songs set Jay back because he lusted for commercial gain, in a pathetic way, copying Bad Boy and playing a role he couldn't keep up.
He's admitted this himself.
