Damn good question. When Scottie pointed at the shoe NBA fans went crazy. We all knew Tyson was gonna fight when he came back, zenith Jordan it seemed like a toss up but when Pippen did that it was like “aww shyt”

We knew Jordan was eventually coming back somehow someway.

We knew Tyson was coming back somehow someway.

Jordan’s left a bigger void than Tyson. However, I think Tyson’s return was bigger because his boxing return is an event, as opposed to Jordan being seen playing daily after his return.

Jordan’s meant more than Tyson because he and basketball are global. But Tyson’s was an epic MOMENT because of the uncertainty of his perhaps eroded skills, and how long would he take to KO McNeely.

“We knew Jordan would come back,” sounds like people who weren’t there. We didn’t know Jordan was coming back until he did. There was hope, but nothing was likely until January 1995.

He was the bigger story as he was the bigger star.

Well I was definitely there, I knew it was likely he was coming back after watching him play baseball, but of course not for sure. Obviously you felt different.

I remember watching WGN or Sportschannel, that night when they had the camera on Pippen on the bench and he pointed to his show, pleading for the GOAT to come back:wow:

Tyson's return was epic, too, but nothing was topping MJ's return.

MJ coming back when he did also helped shape his story. Maybe getting eliminated by Orlando gave him extra motivation. Matter of fact, ain't no maybe about it

He enjoyed playing baseball and spent an entire year on a charter bus. :mjlol:

You may have wanted him to come back, but it wasn’t likely at all.

Tyson boxing again was more likely than Jordan. I think Tyson was 28 or 29 when he was released.

Jordan retired at 29.

What’s crazy is Jordan returned to the nba March 18, Tyson released from jail I believe March 25th or 28th

Both were huge stories. Jordan was the biggest star athlete on the planet , his comeback was more successful

Jordan retirement and return was on nightly news tom brokaw & Dan rather were reporting on it
