Nah the song works cause the son and mother have the same perspective on the action of the absentee father.

yea but i could be full circle, he could show the effects that cause alot of mothers and children to be abandoned, shyt is way deeper rooted then it seem, and lupe is one of them type of artist to look deeper into a situations

He Say, She Say (ft. Sarah Green & Gemstones) [from Food & Liquor] -
On the surface, it appears to be the generic story of what happens within a family when a child is growing up in a fatherless home. But as Lupe reveals HERE, it also serves as the introduction of Michael Young History and the foundation to his doomed fate.

Both verses are somewhat interchangeable, becoming the 2 similar perspectives of the mother and little Michael, respectively, begging the father to rethink his departure from the young boys' life. While dealing with his fathers' absence, MYH goes from being a smart kid who would hand in his homework first, to a troublemaker getting into fights at school. He is in danger of failing his grade and being held back, but his mom is doing everything she can to support him both financially and emotionally. They're doing their best to handle the situation and proclaim, "Some days it ain't sunny, but it ain't so hard..". His fathers' only response to their plea is "I don't know what you want from me..", and MYH is left to wonder why his dad won't even give him a chance.

im looking something i think only lu could pull off, pac was lyrical enough to do what im thinking and that song aint touching this one:yeshrug:

:patrice::what: Ummm that Pac track is EXACTLY what Lu was trying to get across... I think youre trying to say Pac wasnt lyrical enough to do what you wanted Lu to do, but the neither track is lyrical. I think I qualify as one of the Harvard going Lupe stans, but the Pac track >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> He Say She Say. And to say he wasnt lyrical enough... look at that last bar...

"...and grow to be the titan you were meant to be, keep the world frightened by the writings that you send to me..." - :wow:
how predictive, the world was fukkin terrified of my nikka Pac. This might be one of the perfect songs in hip hop.

I like the track as is, coulda switched the verse for the son but I understand him wanting to drive home the point. After all, what could the father really say to make it ok to leave his son.
I get what son is saying. There are some really fukkin tough choices a dad has to make when he's not with the child's mother and its worth exploring. If she up and moves across the country for a better opportunity at life thats her choice. If he does it he abandons his kid... there are more than the kid and the moms perspective here. The Pac shyt shows it without sacrificing anything.
