We all know Manning is the biggest media darling of all time. Even in a world full of false outrage, Manning gets a free pass for getting himself in trouble and trying to blame it on a black guy per court documents. Dude had HGH delivered to.his house, threw his wife under the bus, sent the goons to Al Jazeera and the story magically disappears, never to be discussed again!! As a QB/football player, phenomenal, but also favored. 2003 was.supposed to be his coronation, NE stopped that. So they complain like crazy and get the rules changed/reemphasized.
Peyton has the best season for a QB, ever. Stage is set for him to win it all. NE stops him, again. Gets held to 3 pts in a season where he tossed 49. Couldve thrown 55-60. The next year, NE loses both coordinators and key players and they take a step back.
Manning starts off 13-0, finishes 14-2. Overwhelming favorite to win it all. Pittsburgh starts off fast and puts Indy in the hole. They are up 21-10 with about 7 mins to go in the 4th qtr.
Manning gets deceived by Polamalu who jumps a crosser and picks him off. Troy rolls three times and gets up so fast that he knees the ball out of his arms. He says eff it and decides to fall on it. After the longest review ever, they overturn the INT. Thankfully, Pittsburgh edged them out, but it was embarrassing.
Joey Porter went so far as to say the refs were cheating so Peyton Manning could win the game. He didnt even get fined for it!! Becauss they knew it was bullshyt!! The next year they fall into an 18 pt hole at home and then tje refs made some controversial calls to help aid.the comeback. Namely on Ellia Hobbs. Manning finally beats NE and goes on to win the SB. He got assistance in 3 straight seasons in order to help him get that ever elusive Superbowl win.
The accolades...Manning didnt deserve the MVP in 2008 or 2009. Yet he got it..he wasnt even a top 2 QB, either season. Yet he won them without issue.
I mightve given it to Bob Sanders. His forced fumble on Cedric Benson(RIP) changed ths complextion of the game. Then he had an INT that helped seal the deal.
He was the MVP of the entire playoff run. His returned shored up the defense. It was so powerful that it carried over to the next year, leading to a No.1 scoring defense for Indy, and a DPOY for Sanders.
