Terrible idea...can't believe they even proposing this shyt. Compare to football or baseball, basketball games are much shorter (or at least they feel that way). Hell compared to baseball watching a marathon seems shorter than a game. This is only a problem in the last 2 min of a game which can sometimes drag on for 15-20 min with fouls and timeouts. Like someone said limit the number of timeouts in the last few minutes and problem's solved.

This is the real. Cut the amount of timeouts overall or at least shorten them and limit the numbers of timeouts in the last two minutes. One reason I enjoy watching games on league pass so much more is that the commercials don't drag on nearly as much.how bout u make the games commercial free, i can bet that will shorten the games a WHOLE lot....o wait yall wont do that cuz that makes yall money

I love the idea. Changes the whole dynamic of the game, and imo for the better. Also puts more pressure on the free throw shooter, especially in clutch situations. Yea you only have to take one shot now but there's so much more at stake. Free throws would mean more now.
They gotta seriously tell the refs to bite down on the fukkin whistles though. Players are gonna obviously wanna foul a lot less now but the refs are gonna have to CALL them a lot less too.
But I think this has huge potential.

The con to this is that any time a team scores consecutive baskets, a coach will call a time out just cuz he has some to burn.

Nobody really fouls that much in a quarter and fouls reset each quarter. Faulty is a nice way to describe your idea.
Long story short, you want 2 halves of 24 minutes.
they do foul that much. i would bet 99% of the time teams make it to five fouls in any given quarter.
making non-shooting fouls a 1-and-1 is a simple fix.. games will be better and closer and shorter.

Morey knows that Howard is useless to a team in the free throw line and hates to see the Rockets lose via Hack-a-Howard. Honestly just reduce the amount of commercials and TV timeouts. It maybe hurt revenue in the short run but it wouldn't have such a stupid long-term effect has reducing the amount of free throws.
