On February 15, 1989, the Pistons (ahem: Isiah) traded Adrian Dantley and a 1991 first-round pick to the Mavericks for Mark Aguirre. Aguirre scored 15.5 points per game for the Pistons, who were 32-13 prior to the trade, but a stunning 31-6 after it.

Detroit went 15-2 in the postseason with Aguirre starting all 17 games. The Pistons swept the Lakers in the 1989 Finals to win their first NBA championship.

sheeeeeed......

dont forget sheed got us a ring too

It's amazing how both these trades lead to championships runs for the Pistons. Even that Pau trade came on the heels of the Lakers getting blown out by the Pistons.

Pistons could have had a prime AI back in 2000 if not for Matt Gieger bum ass and his no trade clause and Kobe in 2007 until Jerry Buss had a heart to heart and made him realize how good he had it in LA.

Does anyone besides me remember Portland traded Sheed to ATL 1st, he played 1 game for them, beasted, then they traded him to the Pistons. Why??? Why didn't ATL keep him and who did they get in return? I don't recall...

I remember being shocked at this til I found out AD and Zeke didn't get along. I remember some unnamed Pistons feeling AD deserved a ring too at the end of the season and felt he shoulda got one.

Not quite sure but I think that's the trade that got us Josh Smith. Either that, or that's the trade that gave is the flexibility to get Joe Johnson.
