One thing that makes NBA media coverage bad is the disdain for where the finals are played

It's not that serious
It’s really not…they’ll mention it literally a couple times and is presented as tongue in cheek…unless you’re sitting around consuming hours of peripheral content (podcasts, radio shows, long form articles etc) where these dudes just go on tangents because they literally have hours of time to fill, you’re likely to never hear this…at which point you’re a hardcore fan that’s watching regardless…no effect on the casual viewer

Even this was more about the city lacking the infrastructure to make it work with how spread out everything is and another issue being the lack of hotel rooms as opposed to just being “I wasn’t a bigger flashier market”. I think they had to bring in cruise ships for people to rent rooms to have someplace to stay.

The discussions around the sport is toxic in general. It needs an overhaul and hopefully NBC and Amazon will provide that.

Did SAS say anything this time around? He normally does, but they were just in OKC last week and I don't believe he said anything out of pocket, unless I missed it.

NBA media wasnt nowhere near as toxic in the early 2000s, I didn’t hear anyone in the media bytching about New Jersey, San Antonio, Detroit Cleveland hosting finals and guess what them shyts are still the lowest rated of all time. Y’all overstate how much the media impacts viewers :mjlol:
Stephen a smith wasn’t around then I’m sure he was annoyed back then too

In the social media era the media absolutely impacts viewers watching teams. You have whole social media accounts talking about they not watching teams because of locations including one of your Lakers fan accounts
These social media accounts aren’t going to dictate the actions of millions of potential casual viewers. This is all bytching within the active nba watchers

Trust, we are gonna hear Stephen A. Smith complain about spending 2 weeks in OKC & Indianapolis. That's not your job to voice your displeasure. Cover the damn games and stfu.

The NFL conference championship games can be in Green Bay and Indianapolis, but the ppl covering it wouldn't be on that bullshít complaining stuff.

Stephen A job isn’t to cover the game. It’s to give his opinion to people who find him entertaining and drum up clicks.

Once you understand that you will understand what he is doing.
