i knew somebody was gonna make this one day. its basically a collection of scripts on github that sniff out your CPU configuration and generate an EFI file for you to boot and install macOS. with the OCLP i was able to get my 10 year old laptop running macOS sequoia (it supports tahoe too). pretty cool stuff!

it definitely has a limited appeal, but if this is something youre into you'll love it.

I remember doing this manually and shotgunning various kext files. I got mad wondering why nobody made a tool for the user to just do it for them, and here we are almost ten years later.

Is there a legacy version of chrome or Firefox that works with old computers but still has some kinda updated security?

yes its called firefox-ESR

do you need something in particular? the OCLP is great for actual macs to run macOS past their prime, but OpCore-Simplify will generate a bootable config.plist for you (and download all the .kext files you need, and if necessary, patch Metal after install)

i tried OpCore-Simplify on my dell latitude e6540 and it spit out a working config for me to boot sequoia. i had been on monterey before

the tool does warn you... 'native' installs tend to work better, but OCLP will let you run the new stuff too

both of my hackintoshes are on sequoia

if you have a spare hard drive laying around and are bored of linux, give macOS a try

i find generally macs from before 2013 wont be able to run anything past monterey

youre still covered for a vast majority of software, but its something to keep in mind

OCLP+homebrew should keep you relatively up to date, however

if i didnt flash my GPU i would not be using it on macOS

last year i decided i wanted to build my own mac pro so i found a relatively decent cheap Haswell era Intel processor (i7 4090k) which runs around 3.6ghz. its compatible with the mac pro 2019 as well as the 2017 imac pro. i ordered an upgrade recently, the i7 4090k processor.. it should boost me up to 4.4ghz. its a drop in replacement so i wont need to edit my EFI/config.plist. im actually really excited for it to show up in the mail lol
