I had a great time swinging through NYC in Spiderman 2 & 3 for the ps2.

Tony Hawk's Underground was the goat, every chapter you would move to a different state/city. New Jersey,Hawaii,New York,Florida and many more..

Thing i liked about The Incredible Hulk's world was how destructible it was.

Most open world games aren't pulled off right. They are either boring and lifeless, don't feel lived in or are presented in a way that overwhelms the player.

Open world games that are boring include Far Cry 3/4(they look great but ehh idk I find the whole world bland), Shadow of Mordor, Sleeping Dogs(the game is nice but the world isn't all that) etc.

Only open world games that are done correctly imo are GTA games and lately Skyrim(especially with mods my god).
Edit: Oh and Mass Effect games.
