Canelo vs. Golovkin Trilogy Targeted For May 4, Says De La Hoya

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has directed his company president, Eric Gomez, to begin immediate negotiations to stage a trilogy encounter between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

Canelo, who De La Hoya promotes, is scheduled to return to the ring on May 4th, Cinco De Mayo weekend, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas - the venue where they collided on two previous occasions.

Golovkin has been inactive since lost a close twelve round majority decision to Canelo back in September 2018. The victory awarded Canelo the WBC, WBA middlweight titles.

At this point, I want to see GGG fight somebody else credible at MW before fighting Canelo again. I don't like how he gets to skip back to the front of the line and get a rematch but I definitely get WHY they're running it back again.

Nah rumor is GGG signed a multi fight deal with DAZN, it was all over twitter a few hours ago, nothing I read about PBC other than when he met them a month ago or so.

I'm cool with Canelo vs GGG 3 cause both fights were close and Canelo might feel he has to end this rivalry in style also it is still one of the if not the biggest fight in boxing.
Personally I'd rather see Canelo against someone else in May like Jacobs or Andrade cause that would be something new but I can't hate on Canelo vs GGG 3 for May.
