For the past year, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been greeted with open arms by awards shows, film festivals and even the New York Stock Exchange. But when it comes to landing airtime on the most coveted telecast of all — the Oscars — the Ukrainian leader is being met with a cold shoulder.

For the second year in a row, the Academy has snubbed Zelenskyy, who was hoping to follow up his Berlin Film Festival (remote) appearance last month with a virtual spot on Sunday’s Oscar telecast on ABC. Sources say WME power agent Mike Simpson made a plea to the Academy to include the comedic actor-turned-politician but was shut down. The Academy declined comment.

These award shows are a waste of time and television space. Just announce the winners in an article like college football used to do with the AP And Coaches' polls.

Raise awareness bc I guess they think Americans don't care anymore and eh...
Americans are well aware. We're bombarded with news about the war all the time especially since the anniversary just happened. I can understand asking for an hour or so on on prime time CNN, Fox News, etc but the Oscar's?!

The longer this goes on the the more Americans are less likely to support providing tax payer dollars to fund this proxy war. He wants to get on so he can hit the reset button and remind people what is happening.

I believe we gave them 30 billion last I heard and at some point Americans are questioning how we came up with all that money while we are told everything that politicians can do to make our lives better cost to much. We hear no money for universal health coverage, homelessness, student loan relief etc but we can send 30 billion to another country without much debate.

Let's be clear that the number will go up. Once this war is over we will be sending money to rebuild that nation. This goes without saying. I get that Russia is bad and what's going on is terrible but I want folks in Congress to keep that same energy and leave the purse open for things that would directly help us out.
