And what's so farfetched about evolving from the water? We all came here as small organisms in the water and drew other variations to eventually move upon land.

You know there are thousands of different species of fish, not just one species right? It's possible the most dominant and fit species evolved over time, and the less dominant/fit just stayed stagnant.
