We're past the halfway mark of the year and have seen a variety of noteworthy albums or mixtapes from major artists like Gucci Mane, Kanye, and Schoolboy Q. However we don't talk a whole lot about shyt that flies under the radar. So what has caught your ear this year brehs.

Elucid - Save Yourself

Elucid has been a staple of the New York underground hip hop scene for awhile now, as a producer and rapper, and this is his debut solo album. It's a very moody album built on minimalist production reminiscent of MF DOOM or knxledge. His delivery may not be for everyone but his dense lyrics are undeniable. If you fukk with Billy Woods, Ratking, or DOOM definitely give this a listen.

Open Mike Eagle & Paul White - Hella Personal Film Festival

One of the most quirky, fun albums of the year. Again the DOOM influence is pretty clear in terms of the abstract lyricism and production. In fact the production is pretty forward thinking to me, lots of diverse sounds.
