Oz was one helluva show. Definitely not from Harlem, but wild none the less. And I feel it doesn't get the credit it deserves for helping HBO become the dominant network it is when it comes to TV shows. Nobody has shows like HBO...

Half the Wire was in this. Method man. Herc. Carcettis right hand man. This whole shows roster of actors got poached for other shows. Even the old guy from Breaking Bad was in this. Oh and the guy from all those crazy Insurance commercials was the main character Ryan O'Reilly

That show seemed instrumental in a lot of actor's careers. Tons of Wire actors, Chris Meloni, that Nigerian cat, Eammon Walker, JK Simmons...

Sopranos put HBO on the map. But back to OZ... I always wanted the dude in the wheelchair to get attacked and raped as he gave his opening monolog at the beginning of each show. That shyt would be hysterical. Kinda like how the Simpsons find a new way to sit on the couch every episode, they could find a new way to end the monolog with him getting his booty taken.
It was a crazy show especially for a preteen to stumble across but it didn’t propel HBO into new heights. One can argue that HBO was built off boxing 
and it’s huge PPVs.
