Even law enforcement officers can get star-struck.
But three Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies, who were caught on video fawning over gangsta rapper 50 Cent when he showed up at the county courthouse earlier this month for a civil lawsuit, found out there are repercussions for letting personal adulation get in the way of professional duties.
Sgt. Craig Laufer and deputies Pamela Gibbs and Yvane Moreland received “verbal counseling” for what their supervisors described as “unprofessional” behavior.
In a video shot by The Palm Beach Post, Laufer appeared to snap photos of the singer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, and the two female deputies put their arms around Jackson’s waist and one of them allowed the singer to return the favor, according to disciplinary reports given to all three.
“During the incident, both (deputies) were seen holding onto Mr. Jackson’s waist area and for a period of time Mr. Jackson was holding onto (Deputy) Gibb’s around her waist, while walking through the courthouse,” according to their supervisor.
