Surveillance footage shows the unidentified parent casually walking by the boy in the school's hallway, then striking him unprovoked in the gut and sauntering off. The boy slumps over in apparent pain and kneels on the ground.

“It made my stomach real painful,” the boy, John Mclean, told WJLA.
Lena Mclean said that she knows her son’s assailant as a fellow parent at the school — but can’t understand why he would lash out at a child.
“You watched my son on the ground and you didn’t do nothing ... and all you could say to me is you was playing,” she said.
The parent was caught on the school's cameras punching Mclean unprovoked on Oct. 19.

Lena Mclean filed a police report. D.C. police told the Daily News they have not made any arrests and are still investigating the incident.
KIPP DC sent a letter to parents saying that “the health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff remains our number one priority and we will continue to work closely with the police to ensure that students and staff are safe at school.”
