I and a young lady that i know from the homeless shelter were out in the mall yesterday and having a good time. She is Indian, but I am giving her a chance. We get along really well and i really love her sense of humor. She is also very smart and knows how to cook. Completely by chance, we came upon her parents in another store after we left the mall. They were like fresh out of India it appeared. After the introductions, i noticed her father was looking at me kind of sideways. It was like he was judging me and it made me uncomfortable. He slipped in the question 'so what do you do for a living?' He emphasized the 'you' like I was trash. When i told him that i am a General Surgeon, his eyes narrowed. Apparently, many of her relatives are in medicine as well, and they look down on General Surgery. The conversation ended shortly afterwards, but i could tell they were not impressed. Is this worth pursuing further bc first of all, there may be racial problems now that i see the parents. And also, her father has no right to look down on my career when all he does is own a gas station.
edit: @flea, @2meo, please, what would a virgin do in this situation?
