I worked at a Marshalls while in college.

There were a number of women that looked normal and had decent jobs (some would come in their nursing gear) that had a problem with shopping AND stealing.

It seemed like a weird tick for them...
They would come in the store to shop at least once a week.
Always making returns and then buying more stuff..
and sometimes they would steal (or attempt to).

I was young and didnt really care but sometimes I would point out the item(s) they were trying to get past me just to let them know they werent getting over on me all the time.

This is probably a much larger issue amongst women than folks realize

Reminds me of how white women will act when they’re on Medicaid and trying to pretend like they have normal insurance. So much of their public behavior revolves around looking the part. Being cordial and nice and oh totally like of course yes I understand sir/ma’am. They don’t want to be exposed as a criminal, or as poor, or struggling, etc,

Just recall how they talk about people to other people, just by being in proximity to these convos.

"With their stupid/dumb/simple ass" etc.
