1995 -1996 was definitely the turning point for black people and tattoos. Pac and Dennis Rodman were both super famous and got the trend started and young Iverson was on the come up about to take it to the next level and make it part of the "uniform" in black youth culture. People obviously had tattoos but usually it was just one or two. Before the mid 90's the only black people their whole body covered were dudes probably doing 20+ years in prison...

Crazy how fast it blew up. This is what Rodman looked like in '94

Edit: No PAWGs involved but the thread was flopping

West Coast heads might know. Wouldn’t surprise me with the gang culture as well as Mexican influence. Bikers too

Dennis Rodman, Tupac, and devante swing. Obviously. But I remember coming up a kid in the 90s. If you had a tattoo you were either some ex military badass(like a marine) or you were a street person(og, gang member, drug dealer, biker, etc) those were the only options. So if I saw you with a tattoo when I was 6 I was like 😳

Nowadays even soccer moms have tattoos.

Seen this older likely late 40’s black woman with a skeleton tattoo from her fingers to elbow. Remove the tattoo and she looked like your average middle age working professional black woman with a government job. The tattoo looked kind of fresh too like she got it within the last few years. This was a few days ago and just thought it was odd/interesting.
