never played DayZ, not my style of game. i hear it's a very realistic version of H1Z1 (Zombie Survival) and i think it's the engine they use to play on PlayerUnknown's BG.

Serious tho, most of those games are identical to each other. And some not even good..or competed. And team fortress came out a decade ago, counterstrike came out 2/3decades ago

Day-Z is pretty dead now, most people moved onto quicker survivor games like Players Unknown Battleground or H1Z1, and the remaining that liked more of the survival die 1 time gather items for half a day are now moving onto Miscreated

Yeah, a lot of the online 'PC Master Race' aka anyone who champions PC gaming are like the people who buy/build and tweak muscle cars. Ultimately you are doing the same thing as a Toyota Camry, but with a fast ride/tight handling.

For a lot of people, playing mostly the same games that are on consoles at 60 FPS+ or 1440p+ isnt enough to switch. Most people dont care about that stuff because the experience is too similar to justify building a PC. Most people these days buy laptops for portability with school. So its not like they cant just upgrade their PC for 2X the performance of a console for around 2X the price.

Most people dont even want to search around for deals and build their PCs by themselves to begin with. That is part of the allure of PC tweaking and building. The hunt for parts and the process.

Console gaming and PC gaming have been moving towards each other for a while now. It first started with the console manufacturers buying up PC exclusive titles (Bungie/Halo), (Bioware/Mass Effect/KOTOR/Jade Empire), (Epic/Gears of War). They took risks and had what should have been PC games (by historically PC devs) launch on console first as part of as a way to sell their systems.

In turn what happened was that it opened up the market for 'PC games' such has FPS/Third PS/Western RPGs to new audiences on consoles. These games sold very well on consoles so naturally game publishers started making damn near every release of what used to be 'PC games' for PC and console.

Call of Duty and Battlefield are prime examples. These were PC shooters back in the day and now they being made with console players in mind.

What has happened is that in the last year. Phil Spencer and Microsoft have been so gracious to PC gamers that they are giving back all of the exclusives that they stole from the PC market for 2 generations. Now we have a Microsoft gaming platform that includes Xbox/Windows 10.

Some Japanese developers are also noticing the PC and are testing the waters releasing titles for it as well. Releasing on PC gives access to markets that consoles cant reach (due to high prices/shipping etc).

Look, publishers/developers are chasing the bag. Any game will come out for any system as long as there isn't a heavy vested interest against it.

People are going to play where they want to play. Unless the game is coded horribly, the experience between playing games on current gen consoles and high end PCs is mostly the same and not worth the investment in cutting edge hardware.
