Pelicans head coach Monty Williams fired

Monty Williams has reportedly lost his job as the coach of NBA team the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 43-year-old had been in charge of the side for almost five years after getting his first coaching job in June 2010.

According to Yahoo! Sports this afternoon, Williams has been fired, despite leading the Pelicans to the playoffs in a fiercely-contested Western Conference for the first time in four years.

New Orleans scraped into the playoffs with a surprise victory over the San Antonio Spurs on the final day of the season, but they faced top-seed the Golden State Warriors in the first round and lost the best-of-seven series 4-0.

Well he's not a good coach to begin with which would explain why his job wasn't secure, but I digress, yeah I thought them making the playoffs would save him temporarily.

Monty is a good coach. Pels were one of the top teams out of timeouts for a reason, despite all the injury woes including to AD they still managed to make the postseason in large part because of him.
