I think desegregation was a bad idea and did nothing for the black community, howrcer nikkas act like the black community was in good shape. yes there were black businessas and black professionals. but those businesses still lacked adequate funding and were small mom and pop stores, there few large black companies with a large amount of capital for further expansion. Housing was still shoddy and neglected by cities and white and c00n landlords. There was still high crime because again black businesses weren't large enough to give employment to all the young men and they turned to crime to make a living.

the civil rights movement should have been focused on reparations which would have been invested in the black community. white people who funded the movement made sure it was focused on segregation, because they knew desegregation would do nothing to challenge white supremacy, and would placate blacks who thought they finally made it because they could live side by side with cacs.

Reparations alone is not enough. It's no different than desegregation. It's not a threat to white supremacy just because they people a bunch of money.

This whole system needs to rot from the inside out.

it has to due more with family structure. i feel values left us after my moms generation. they came up cultured then partyed when herion and coke hit. we been partying ever since while others pass generational wealth. There are pros and cons but we need something real to guide us. we guide ourselves currently

A black economy doesn't mean shyt when you're still living under white supremacy. Jews are wealthy as fukk, but they asses still ain't allowed in country clubs accused for every ill plaguing society

the rich chinese that invest/own parts of cities still exploit their own people. Chinatown's aren't an example of prosperity when your workforce is living in hell forcefully.

South l.a. , Compton and Inglewood was nice fukking areas when their was black husbands and wives in the home and black men was making good money in the auto plants and manufacturing plants...

Then came the decline and hippies to drugs and gangs and it was over..

It really is over because a lot of blacks today rather run away from the problems to the burbs instead of fight the ignorance which leave the positive blacks in the hood out number by the trash.

It also doesn't help when u have the ray nagins and kwame Kilpatrick type politicans ruined our local government just so they can vacation in vegas

The Civil Rights movement was about making Black Americans whole after slavery...

If you look at the Civil Rights movement pre 1960s...it was about reparations...the Reconstruction Era was definitely about reparations

If you look at it after 1960s it was about reparations...Black Panther Party list of demands was about reparations

MLK was talking about reparations toward the end of his life



Looking at the Civil Rights Movement and thinking it was just about integration is like a high school way of looking it...

You have to go back to what David Walker's argument was in the Appeal...he wasn't talking about being able to being around White people

Black folks fighting to be made whole is the whole point of the Civil Rights movement...

Freedom of movement and access to public facilities and funding is important...

Think about this...

Before integration...

Black folks were on curfew...

Black folks couldn't live anywhere they wanted to...

Black folks were regularly dragged outside their house and killed...

Black folks were regularly dragged outside their home and raped...

Black folks could not even attend publicly funded schools that their tax dollars paid for...

Black folks could not even work certain jobs...

Black folks had to jump thru hoops to vote...

You really were a prisoner in your own country...Black people today take a lot of basic shyt for granted like we could always get in our car and drive to WalMart after work

Integration has dismantled a lot of White supremacy...

White Supremacy was never about just economic disenfranchisement...it was about complete and total control of your body...

Yo, I always here this narrative on The Coli, but everytime my pops talks about Segregation he always starts out ...."WE AINT HAVE shyt".... So, if he doesn't think it was better fukk am I spose to say.

I'm not one to question people's race on here constantly, but I automatically side eye people who say shyt like that. Anyone who has been around black people who lived around that era would know that shyt wasn't prosperous for everyone.

    And Our Role In The Present-Day Society.
    We believe in an educational system that will give to our people a knowledge of self. If a man does not have knowledge of himself and his position in society and the world, then he has little chance to relate to anything else.

  6. We Want All Black Men To Be Exempt From Military Service.
    We believe that Black people should not be forced to fight in the military service to defend a racist government that does not protect us. We will not fight and kill other people of color in the world who, like Black people, are being victimized by the White racist government of America. We will protect ourselves from the force and violence of the racist police and the racist military, by whatever means necessary.

  7. We Want An Immediate End To
    Police Brutality And Murder Of Black People.
    We believe we can end police brutality in our Black community by organizing Black self-defense groups that are dedicated to defending our Black community from racist police oppression and brutality. The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States gives a right to bear arms. We therefore believe that all Black people should arm themselves for self- defense.

  8. We Want Freedom For All Black Men
    Held In Federal, State, County And City Prisons And Jails.
    We believe that all Black people should be released from the many jails and prisons because they have not received a fair and impartial trial.

  9. We Want All Black People When Brought To Trial To Be Tried In
    Court By A Jury Of Their Peer Group Or People From Their Black
    Communities, As Defined By The Constitution Of The United States.
    We believe that the courts should follow the United States Constitution so that Black people will receive fair trials. The Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution gives a man a right to be tried by his peer group. A peer is a person from a similar economic, social, religious, geographical, environmental, historical and racial background. To do this the court will be forced to select a jury from the Black community from which the Black defendant came. We have been, and are being, tried by all-White juries that have no understanding of the "average reasoning man" of the Black community.

  10. We Want Land, Bread, Housing, Education,
    Clothing, Justice And Peace.
    When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume, among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and nature's God entitle them, a decent respect of the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Right. And a lot of folks push that Black Wall street narrative in talking about the communities in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Durham, North Carolina, yet fail to see the reason these two places were held in high regard is because they were such outliers compared to what the majority of Black people were living through in those particular eras. Most black people, communities were dirt poor. It can be argued that despite the poverty, communities flourished because people were closer and more empathetic to one another. But don't get it twisted folks was fukked up.
