The league’s glamour franchise/major markets are on the outside looking in as far as future prospects

OKC
Denver
Minnesota (assuming they figure out free agency)
Indy
Cleveland

Those are the teams you could probably pencil in to have 50+ win seasons & playoff runs of some sort with The Spurs joining the party in the years to come

Bulls, 76ers, Lakers, Clippers, Heat, Warriors & Celtics either are in transition, aging or don’t matter

Knicks will be competitive so they’ll be an outlier

The point is these Indy vs OKC type Finals might become more common place

Ill watch but…

If anyone still thinks of Anthony “loud mouth” Edwards as the face of the league get help.

These small market teams taking over is Adam Silver’s nightmare.

My Lakers being coached by an arrogant, rude, ex-podcaster who can’t coach a kid’s league is ruining our chances.

Bulls. We already know the issue.

Sixers is not a big market team imo

Clippers have 0 shot with Harden

Celtics will be back and a serious contender. Warriors too. I expect a big trade this summer..

But yes

Besides LeBron’s pending retirement causing a serious “no face of the league” issue (Wemby is not, Cooper Flagg is not,
Kyrie doesn’t want it)… these small markets have nearly no pull (look at the OKC-Wolves series.. NOBODY CARES, indy is different because they once were legit contenders during the most competitive time in the NBA and the Knicks in the ECF for the first time in 25 years is a big thing). Other than that.. nobody’s checking for a Cleveland Cavs game, #1 or #last in their conference.

I'm shocked the NBA still has the problem. Like the NFL had record ratings of a game between KC and Buffalo in recent times. I thought like the NFL, the NBA was passed being screwed by two small market teams being in a late round playoff series.

Prior to these Conference Finals I thought only baseball still had the small market teams = flabby ratings problem. Like the 2023 WS ratings were really low than the 2024 WS, which had NYC and LA, one of the games beat the NFL in head to head ratings :mjlol:

How are the Sixers not a big market team?

Is your definition of big market only New York, LA & Chicago? Because if you excluding Philly it is. Only one bigger than those 3 is Dallas. And Philly is 4 over Dallas depending on your source and what you're measuring.

The league will force big name teams to get stars…they did it with LA multiple times, New York this year, Giannis will go to a big market team.

At the end of the day even these smaller franchises will start losing money if they win, picture OKC or Indian in luxury tax hell..they would end up
Losing money if they continue winning and paying people. At the end of the day it’s a business, and a small market team winning is bad for them and the league…I’m pretty sure some NBA teams turned up better profits while being middle of the pack than when they became champions..

NBA is rigged, this is Adam Silbers worse nightmare. He gave NY a top 3 big and gave LAL a top 3 player in league…and they still fumbled.

Why would Kyrie be considered face of the league?

I love the parity. Gives other franchises some hope..

Look at the NFL, there's a reason why it's the best league in the world.. any given Sunday, any team can win that shyt with a good quarterback
