I get it that there is a whole generation that does everything on their phone and it's not crazy. I think it's weird that people don't even give a desktop PC or laptop a chance because they think they "don't need them". I can do most things on my phone but having a file system and a million other benefits make using a normal computer an easier solution for things like paying bills or checking your stupid social media. Just having a mouse and keyboard is huge. For anything beyond scrolling TikTok. like paying bills, managing documents, or even checking multiple tabs of your precious social media. a proper computer just makes life easier.

Lots of things are better on desktop. Certain websites are just not designed well for mobile, and if I’m filling out documents for something government related or doing my taxes, a laptop just works better. Plus games.

im like this, but when im on the go im a total phone junkie too

i prefer desktops for home computing, laptop for moving between rooms. i put my laptop in my bag and bring it with me if i need to work on something while im out, otherwise if its just general internet posting like reddit/coli ill use my phone

but people on the phone 24/7 is weird af to me. especially at home. but a lot of people just dont know how to use a computer anymore

the problem with every app being a website embedded as an app is that youre not really interfacing with the operating system (or doing any actual real work ) so it is kind of a glorified toy.

basically i think most people who own a smartphone are people who would never own/want a computer in the first place. my stepfather is like that. dumb as hell, couldnt use windows to save his life. hated social media, thought it was the devil. his job gave him his own smartphone and within a month that motherfukker was all over it lmao

When i was kid in the 90s. There were tons of people 60 an older who didn't understand computers

30 years later their are still tons of people 60 and older who don't understand computers. These people were 30 when computers became common.
30 years from now there will still be tons of people 60 and older who don't know how to use a computer.
Some people just aren't capable of evolving beyond the 20th century
smart phone only making it easier

I was amazed at how many people do EVERYTHING on a phone, but that's what Industry has been pushing since the invention of the iPhone (and low key with net capable phones prior to that)

Meanwhile, 2 screens, media server, printer, scanner, back ups for back ups...I'm Gen X to the core.

M$ talmbout I need to upgrade to Windows 11. Lemme find a warez site real quick...

That said, I've never sideloaded to any of my phones, much less "flashed" my kindle.

Yeah, i was mostly talking about people who don't know how to use computer. because if you have been to school in the past 30 years you had to use a computer.
But if you don't own one. because you don't need to, thats different.

Yeah, thats the only way i browse the coli. If i'm not trapped at my office desk, i really have no reason to be here anyway. which why you rarely see me post after 5pm est.

Yall being on your phone posting here when you could be doing literally anything else is what confuses me low key
