We done covered the contraversy surrounding not/voting at length on this board so I am not attempting to rehash any of it.

Just interested in this narrow aspect.

Those who feel it's important to vote:

Are you encouraging others to vote?

What are y'all doing now?

What else can we do?

Could we coordinate?

You just don't. Alright. They either want to. Or they don't.

Stop guilt tripping them and making hypohotheticals that don't apply to them.
Stop using fearmongering into pressuring them to vote.
Stop insulting them or their intelligence cause they don't subscribe to your way of thinking.
Stop forcing people into doing things they don't believe in or they simply don't want to do.

Why don't you tell them "your ancestors fought and died so you could have the right to vote" maybe that would work.

And another thing...stop using the whole "older generations fought and died for us to vote"...spiel.

Did the older generations of black people fight and die for a country that invaded not one, but two countries on false pretense (where were the WMDs?), destabilize their economies and governments to create a military occupation and exploit it for it's vast supplies of oil and poppy fields? And manage to kill almost 1,000,000 people to avenger the deaths of less than 4,000 on 9/11?

Did the older generations of black people fight and die for a country where the police forces killed more unarmed people (who were predominantly black) in 2015 than some countries have in 40+ years?

Did the older generations of black people fight and die for a country where the cops who killed those unarmed civilians get off and receive a nice little gofundme donation purse and get to go on paid leave?

Did the older generations of black people fight and die for a country where...when a natural disaster happened (Katrina), cops, privatized military (blackwater), and white militias took it upon themselves to kill as many black people as they could, blame it on gangs, looting and thugs, and we only found out about it almost a DECADE after it happened?

They would cry if this is what they realized they fought and died for. If they were still alive.

:wow:

They didn't die for this bullshyt...

Badgering people and belittling them is the wrong route. Fo sho. No one should be harrassed.

By mentioning it and talking to people about their hangups has actually worked with several so far.

So. Not tryna abuse anyone. Just trying to encourage peolpe and help them if they don't feel like they have enough info.

Great point.
