You can get hypoallergenic breeds. Just google them to find out.

If you're already stuck with a pet you're allergic to though, you can get over-the-counter medicine (antihistamines) or talk to an actual doctor to get you some anti-allergy shots.

I'm allergic to cats but haven't really been around one in I don't know how long. I don't think it goes away though

I was allergic to dogs when I was younger, I became perfectly fine around them as I got older though. :manny:

Cats though, I used to get ridiculous symptoms when I went over my grandmother's house with her cat. Runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing. As I got older the symptoms went away and I just got red eyes, no sneezing or anything. But that was about 3-4 years ago so I don't know how my allergies would react now. :manny:

I was pretty allergic to cats but my mom didn't want to respect the allergy and stayed with one, I
eventually got over it.

I might move in with someone who has 2 cats. I'd only have to pay $150 for rent no utilities. It's a really nice house, 2 car heated garage. I might have to just get over the cats. When my ex has a cat I'd just take 2 ibuprofen a day and be cool

I hear the allergies trigger because of a certain protein in the cats saliva, some cats have it, some cats don't. When you move in just do a serious cleaning of your area and make sure they don't get too comfortable around you and you should be good.

keep your room well vacuumed and dont let the cats in. try to get one of those air purifiers and put it in the living room. you should be OK. your body will naturally begin to adjust, but you'll always show some symptoms. try to get a prescription for claritin or allegra....take one every day. if the symptoms get really bad take some benadryl.

i have terrible cat allergies and i live with a cat now so this comes from experience.

I've always wanted a cat, but I am allergic like hell. Do those allergy shots work for cat allergies as well?

I got a cat a couple yrs ago, and I was catching red eyes, itchy skin, runny nose, red patches, etc.... Eventually it went away and i dont get any reaction at all. I think that the constant exposure at a high level will eliminate any reactions fairly soon
