If this game is like the Etrian Odyssey games, a Vita version won't work because you need two screens. But that's OK, because Vita is getting a new Persona game too

The artwork of the Persona games have always intriqued me. Not sure where to start though. Is there a chronology or something? I wanna play it for DS or 3DS, idk. Might pick one up this weekend.
Persona team is working on Persona 5. This game is being made by the Etrian Odyssey people.
This is the first Persona game on a Nintendo system, so you will have to play on PS1/PS2/PS3, PSP. or Vita if you want to play the other games.

Got a PSP, maybe I'll check it out.
Persona 1 and 2 have aged terribly IMO, but if you're willing to trek through them, check them out on your PSP(Persona 1 is a PS1 classic, and Persona 2 is split in two parts, with one of the games having a remake). 3 and 4 are where a lot of the series praise seem to come from, as they're a lot more updated, modern, and easier to enjoy.
Persona Q is a cross-over between the casts from Persona 3 and Persona 4, which are great games in their own right. You can check out Persona 3 with the PSP remake or the PS2 version(it's on PS3 as well as a downloadable PS2 classic), Persona 4 is only on the PS2 and PS Vita(unless you got da emulator game right). I recommend starting with 3, and playing 4 after, and if you're that into the story, then 1 and 2. Each game works well as a standalone, but there's connections to all 4 games if you pay attention. 2 being the most important story-wise imo. The chronology isn't too important because no game spoils the other at all.
