Men only protecting a few women when it benefits them doesn't make women as a whole safer but that's point.

The point is to be complacent with other men doing what they want so that you look useful in the eyes of a woman.

If "protection" was really the goal of men the world would be a lot safer. But a safer world means that more individual men are less usefulness to individual women.

Therefore the "solution" you are providing isn't actually a solution. It's a power dynamics/false value strategy that actually supports the toxic system as a whole especially considering that the most danger to women comes from their partners.

It's not meant to benefit anyone but yourself.

PS I'm not saying you (general) are obligated to protect women. I'm just saying that protection in the manner being discussed is more about keeping territory and presenting false value as opposed to safety.
