PETA files lawsuit against Solange Knowles

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to New York County District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. on Friday urging him to seek jail time for artist Solange Knowles accused of animal abuse.

The District Attorney's office said it has forwarded the complaint to the proper office for review and said a proper inquiry will have to be launched and the allegations carefully reviewed before it can comment.

A phone message left for Mrs. Knowles, wasn’t immediately returned and an email address for media inquiries also was not working.

The group also asked that Mrs. Knowles be banned from owning animals for “as long as possible.”
Her trial is scheduled to start this month on one count of animal cruelty.
