10 million on the line
THE MACHINE has some tips for watching if you are a golf casual
--------
The playoffs mark the end of the tour season for the pro golfers, even though the season starts back up right after the Ryder Cup. The playoffs are made up of 4 events in 5 weeks ending in the Tour Championship (schedule below). They accumulate points all year and are slotted accordingly. The top 125 make it to the playoffs (Tiger is 20th). The key is to try to be in the top 5 by the Tour Championship, only the top 5 control their destiny. If you are in the top 5 at the tour championship and win it, you win the 10 million too. Everyone outside the top 5 have to win the Tour Championship and get help from the field..
