JM: So, is it safe to say the Knicks will not be a "space and pace" team any time soon?

PJ: It's my feeling when everybody does the same damn thing it becomes, 'Who has the best Rolls Royce? Who has the best, fastest stock car in this race we are running?' So if you have LeBron, wow, we're going to do the same thing even though we don't have the Rolls Royce? You have to be unique. You have to have something no one else is doing to have genius in this game. It becomes an ownership. I don't care about the triangle. I care about systematically playing basketball. If the spacing isn't right, if guys are standing on top of each other, if there aren't lanes to be provided, or rebounders available to offensively rebound the ball, or we don't have defensive balance when a shot goes up, all of these things are fundamental basketball. I follow it. I'm not railing, 'This is inadequate' or 'This isn't right.' Just show me what will work. Are we running around for no reason? Can we hit the first cutter? Do we have the ability to hit the second option or are we just bypassing plays so someone can hit a 3-point shot? It doesn't make sense to me.

He could have coached the team if he really wanted to.
:coffee:
He's senile. He's making excuses and saying they have to do something different because they don't have the nicest car (even though buying the cars is his fukking job) and low key shytting on his work as a coach because he was the one who always had the Rolls Royce.

I'm really annoyed at Phil.

The triangle only worked when ran by generational talents. It's obvious that he believes that it was simply a plug and play system due to his coaching.

He's been a disaster in NY outside Porzingis, but they are stunting his development anyways

Phil lowkey sh*tting on Mike Conley too....

JM: You traded for Derrick Rose, which was a gamble. What was your thinking behind it?

PJ: Mike Conley was the best choice as a free agent, but he's making $30 million a year. That's almost insane. We saw that was going to happen.

Is Noah on a minutes restriction because he's still recovering from an injury or did Phil give him all that money just to play 20 mins a game for 82 games? If the former, is there a time table? B/c that's huge one way or another.

Also, if they ever start talking about moving KP to the 5 and melo/whoever to the 4 (b/c of KP's difficulties in guarding at the 4), then that's pretty much a redux of what happened in Chicago when they sent Noah to the bench in favor of Niko.

Kinda hard to win with this franchise. They refused to let Melo go and now can't trade him. The Noah signing made sense, but they overpaid. I don't care about the Rose signing right now because it's low risk.

It is so clear that the knicks need to destroy and just give Porzingis the crown and build around him because he is our best player.

I think part of the problem is 1) he inherited a shyt roster, that isn't his fault 2) he inherited a team that lacked a draft pick last year, again not his fault. If they tanked two years in a row then no one is complaining right now about lack of help for porzingis because they could have had another young player to go alongside him 3) people in NY seem to be pressuring him to make them great again fast, as in the whole problem it's always been.

They should have let Melo go. They should have moved on. They didn't, so instead they're forced to build a team around him to compete or have him crying all year long(like he was last year about his help), which results in moves like getting Rose/Noah because Melo wants to compete now. It's just a stupid situation.

Also the whole car thing was that if everyone runs the same system then the team with the best players will win, so to beat out those teams you have to have your own unique system that is better than their system otherwise you don't stand a chance.
