The Trumpsters always make jokes about the Left wanting to send "social workers" to do the job of the police. But in this situation, social workers likely would've de-escalated it and the guy wouldn't be dead.
Yes, it's stupid AF for any man, let alone a Black man, to go at the cops while holding a knife but I still think the situation could've ended without the guy dying if the cops were better trained to deal with people with mental health issues. And the dude's mom was there trying to defuse the whole thing, at least give her the chance to calm her son down if ya'll can't handle it.
Were the cops being racist? Not a cut and clear case but I think there's a tendency for people to automatically deem a white guy acting erratically as "crazy" and to treat him as a victim suffering from mental illness compared to a Black man acting erratically and treating him as a "threat" and a suspect.
I ain't mad at all about the protests. The looting and rioting after the fact is stupid though, and playing into Trump's hands. Still think Biden will take Pennsylvania but it won't be a landslide. You better believe this will be Trump's main talking point on social media and the campaign trail from now until Nov. 3 since he knows how important Pa. is. For those that don't know, Philly is an anomaly. The rest of the state is "Pennsyltucky"

Yeah, the spot where the ATM got blown up near my apartment is Black-owned. They got hit over the summer during the George Floyd protests too.
Like I've said, I support the protests, even joined them over the summer. But the looting and rioting is stupid AF. This is where white and Black middle class liberals frustrate me. Some of them try to justify the looting as if it's some revolutionary act against an oppressive system. Nah, it's just people wanting to steal shyt and a lot of Black businesses suffer as a result. Plus a lot of the people saying that dumb shyt don't live anywhere near the neighborhoods where this shyt is happening

To be fair, that's how it started out last night. They marched to two police precincts in West Philly, vandalized the building and threw bricks at some of the cops. But eventually West Philly in general got fukked up.

I doubt whoever called the cops on Walter Wallace wanted him dead. Probably just wanted them to help calm him down. The worst I'll say about the person who called is that they're naive and have way too must trust in police being able to safely de-escalate a situation. But I'm not gonna say that they didn't care about Wallace dying.
This right here, I always tell people to never call the police unless you are ok with someone dying when they get there. Cops are awful at their jobs. If cops are anywhere in my vicinity I am leaving. I don't trust them.
