Their system won't work on most teams, especially not the Knicks with Melo & Smith.

Melo would get benched playing for Pop.

It's not really a system...it's how you're supposed to play basketball. Pop just holds people accountable. This isn't a complicated game, especially offense.

They have a continuity motion offense, it is a system and it's not something they did 5-7 years ago.

You need the right players for their system to work, notice they really didn't take off again until they got Leonard and Diaw? The Diaw get is really underrated, he plays the 4, can pass and make the correct reads from all over the floor.

The Knicks would need to ditch a few players (Melo included) for them to even think about trying to do what the Spurs do. What the Spurs have is pretty unique, the Warriors are starting to look similar to them, but even then it's not quite the same.

It's not laziness, passing and reading defenses is a skill like anything else. The Spurs go after guys they feel could work in their system which is why they want Marc Gasol so badly.

Being able to make the right read, then the correct pass or shoot in a split second is what the Spurs offense calls for, the ball would straight up stop moving with Melo .

He can't, even on Team USA his role was that of instant offense where his priority was to score.


And they shouldn't have resigned him.
