You want to see the knicks at an affordable price.... you need to go to DC or ATL when they play there

I already did (live in DC), plan on watching them in Philly this season too

Come Feb/March ... You'll find 20/30 tickets on Stubhub for MSG.

You can get Jets/Skins tickets for $10

Never should have resigned him to begin with

I got to disagree. Name a better player out there the knicks could realistically acquire to play the scorer role in the triangle? Even injured Melo is putting up 28/9/5. Knicks did what they had to do. Now they need to put some Bigs and 2 way roleplayers around him.

He's a 1 way player that needs a team built specifically to hide him defensively, you could try building a team around him like the Mavs did with Dirk, but he's not a 7 footer so even there you're going to run into problems. It's not like he's a great playmaker either, so when his offense is off your entire team grinds to a halt on the offensive end cause he'll just keep firing up shots. I believe @The Taxman calls him "Thick Iverson" :dead: and the comparison is pretty spot on, it's going to take some finely crafted team that runs on a razors edge with him just to contend.

I would have told him I'm not re-signing him and moved him to the Bulls in a sign and trade, would have exhausted every option to get Butler & Mirotic in the trade, even if it meant taking whatever contracts or finding a 3rd team. You're going to be in the draft regardless, and I'd rather pay Jimmy whatever he's going to ask for at 25 years old, than to be saddled with Melo for the next 5 years. fukk the triangle breh, that shyt has only worked with franchise players that are top 10 all-time caliber.

1) Butlers best year of stats (in this short season) in his contract year is the equivalent of Melo during this throw away year
2) Butler has a better team around him
3) Teams don't focus their defense to stop Jimmy Butler, Melo has to score as the 1st option against teams best defenders every game
4) Melo has over the last few seasons turned from a bad defenders to a decent defender.
5) I am not even sure the Bulls will match... they say they will but the bulls are cheap as fukk and have let talent walk away before.... a lot

Contract year or not I'd still want Mirotic and Butler over Melo, especially since Mirotic looks like the very rare faceup big that can play defense & rebound. Mirotic was a known commodity, as in he was the best European prospect in the world for the last couple years, two players 23 and 25 that will provide more for less than Melo for a much longer time.

Melo is not a decent defender this year, he's not going to be a decent defender in 2 years and he won't be a decent defender 4 years from now when he's making nearly $30 million a season. Your last point about the Bulls letting Butler walk is exactly why I would have pressed them for a S&T with the hopes of getting Butler & Mirotic in the package for Melo.

The Knicks are in the same exact position they would have been without Melo, they would have more caproom this summer, except with a more balanced squad and a much brighter future moving forward. Now, you're back to relying on the FA market and praying on the unlikely event that Marc Gasol leaves a much better team to come play in NY.

I'm worried about his post game, but not about the rest. I've seen him pass beautifully out of the post in all directions... kickout/drop off to cutter/hi-lo. He also has NICE form on his jumper. Touch. Also, how much strength can he gain?

But as far as skills go... he's there man.
breh say we get the second pick and towns goes first, we pick okafor, would we be able to play gasol with okafor or would they not be able to mesh together?

I never wanted him resigned I just think he's a very hard player to build around very much like Iverson was.I don't think he can be the best player on a title team he's too much of a one trick pony.

I also was amazed at people who claimed he couldn't fall off because his game doesn't rely on athleticism as if all those minutes played and miles on the tire won't effect him.Hes already having more trouble finishing at the rim.

The contract is gonna be an albatross in a few years but if the Knicks sign a second tier star in free agency and the Knicks are a playoff team for a few years even with no shot at a title Dolan will be satisfied.

People got too caught up with how much he scores, dude isn't a playmaker, isn't a top level defender and currently he has one of the worst defensive ratings on the Knicks. Without a center out there to cover his ass he's pretty shytty on that side of the ball and he's an offensive flow killer, you pass him the ball and the record stops while he decides whether he wants to try and score, or if he can't score and still fires up some bullshyt.

Can anyone look at their garbage roster with a straight face and say the future is bright, you got some young ass teams in the East (Bucks, Celtics, Magic) that are currently playing better than the Knicks even though the Knicks supposedly have the best player. You got his gigantic contract for the next 4 years after this season, while those teams have nothing but young dudes on rookie deals, save for Rondo.

Stats are why he still has a few fans still riding hard for him but he doesn't impact the game nearly as much as his stats would indicate.

I'll be honest I don't like watching him play very much.Like you said the ball sticks to him while players stand around it's not pretty basketball.

Knicks only hope is to get lucky in the draft and then Towns Okafor or Mudiay becomes a beast and they get a Gasol or something but chances of that are slim

once again get out of here with that bullshyt, multiple teams with professional scouting departments only a few weeks ago were competing to pay Melo the max amount they had available..... but people just got caught up?

As for the knicks roster. Yeah its mostly garbage but all those contracts except Melo, Calderon (not garbage) and the youth are gone this offseason.
