Well unfortunately this post reminded me how much I listened to the listening back in the day...time to revisit it![]()

9th always been moving funny..Jamla could've been special

Kaze is my guy! Known him since like '03. Back from the Triangle days. He definitely had issues with 9th too. Dealt with a lot of shady shyt with dude over the years. 9th seriously been shytting on a lot dudes for years. Especially local NC dudes.

Good looks, that makes sense.Their deal was supposed to be a 1/3 split. Tribe had a deal like that too. Same way De La's was, even with them making their own beats, also while Paul was with them. 9th was in the group, so he wouldn't be paid separately as the producer. You're just an artist, at that point. His royalties would only be greater outside of LB. But when it comes to their releases, all three of them should've been seeing equal share. Word is, after '05, it became clear that he was the only one seeing bread from the actual albums.
Scott Storch is for hire. So as a producer, he's not tied to an artist or group dynamic, contractually. So he can charge whatever he wants, and get paid. When you're in a group, you're seen as "talent" on a contract. So 9th wouldn't be able to pull more bread from the label, either without Pooh and Phonte agreeing to that, or unless they were being cut out entirely.
Man 9th used to stay in some beef on The Lawn message board. I vividly remember Kaze and K Slack from The Thyrday having long ass threads at 9th lol. I know a lot of the early Jamla artists fell out with him for various reasons too, most notably Skyzoo
And I still stand by a lot of those earlier artists being better than Rapsody![]()
He made a post about the Blueprint being the first album to have that type of production or some shyt like that and nikkas was checkin him. nikkas was bringing up Supreme Clientele. Bink was schoolin him on some shyt and he was just goin back n forth with people. Dude ego crazy. LolWhat was it?
Kaze one of the best human beings out thereKaze is my guy! Known him since like '03. Back from the Triangle days. He definitely had issues with 9th too. Dealt with a lot of shady shyt with dude over the years. 9th seriously been shytting on a lot dudes for years. Especially local NC dudes.
to you and the Triangle sceneThat may be a bit weak, but the irony is that LB is known for having one of the best live shows of any group in hip-hop history. Also gotta keep in mind that if it's a print interview, it's likely from the mid 2000's. It's not an understatement to say that most of us from NC had a chip on our shoulders. We didn't get a lot of love or support from our own state, and were also younger and more immature. You can see the same type of behavior at times from Griselda due to them being from Buffalo.Wish them the best, but was turned off to the group from an old interview. And the comment foreshadowed some of the financial problems they would have later, I guess.
A print magazine article from their heyday. Interview mentions them flopping at an important showcase/event.
Phonte said "yeah, the crowd should have applauded us for not talking about x,y,z on our records"
Never heard rap artists cop pleas for not pulling off a great or good show. Never took the group seriously after that. Rap acts come up doing tons of shows, in different settings in front of different audiences. Either you slightly tailor your set to the audience, or your perform and let it be what it is. But you never ask for a participation trophy.
Groups that can perform well can always do dates, tours and eat....regardless of record sales.
I've been to shows where I didn't even know who the opening act was, and rocked with their performance.
The "y'all should applaud us on GP" is not it.
I always gotta mention I produced Joozee's joint Steam
that's dope. I like that joint and Jozee is solid. Good people.
