Why did we ever care about sales #'s at all? Because they denote an artist's relevancy and popularity
Before stream sites/the internet, why did people actually buy albums? to hear the music
Why do people stream albums? to hear the music
so why are streaming #'s used to discredit total sales #'s when they both exemplify the same thing?
In an era when everyone knows that they have easy access to free music, counting streaming in addition to physical copies sold when evaluating an artist's relevancy makes far more sense and is a much more accurate indicator of said relevancy/popularity than just counting album sales alone.
Only reason people buy albums nowadays is if theyre a stan and want to support the artist.
thus i assume that those of you whose coping mechanism whenever drake's numbers come in is to point out that drake didnt actually sell 140 million copies of Scorpion in 24 hours are simply satisfied with the fact that drake doesnt have 140 million dedicated stans who are willing to put a few cents in his pocket knowingly, not that Drake is actually losing steam or anywhere close to falling off popularity wise
Call me a stan, truth is, i aint heard a drake album since NWTS and have 0 desire to,but the scrambling and goalpost moving this forum does when it comes to this dude and his numbers are hilarious to me.
"Bu-bu-but corporate backing"
If people didnt want to listen to drake, they wouldnt. Doesnt matter how much spotify or apple promote his shyt. It takes 0 effort to not click on an ad. The vast majority of people wont click on an ad for something they have 0 interest in.
TLDR: Differentiating between streaming/digital sales/physical sales is a coping mechanism used by coli posters to discredit the success of any artist they hate All 3 mean the same thing in this era of music.
Coli told me Pusha T ended drake's run. Coli lied....again
That is all
