Those songs are classic but didn't move the needle like that in real time.
X,Wayne,Snoop,50 and the rest of those names shifted the culture in their prime years. Jay Z in 97 was not a superstar and was an afterthought compared to the Puff/Biggie/Mase run that took over in that era. Dude was known more for being with Foxy Brown than his music back then, anyone who was around knows this.
