Some do, some don’t. There’s ones that do feel like experiences and events (GNX, a lot of Westside Gunn albums, It’s Almost Dry, Die Lit), some are just an assortment of inoffensive bangers (various stuff by Moneybagg Yo, Glorilla, Blocboy JB, Finesse2Tymes), and some are just streaming obligation albums ($$$4U, Uzi’s last album)

Very true. Samurai by Lupe was the last fully immersed album that I listened to and that dropped last year.
Gotta agree

I do appreciate how Siifu crafts his albums. He even used Big Rube in at least one of his albums and that takes me back to the Dungeon Fam’s heyday. I just think artists know that people are big into playlists now and they do their albums like that. Just make mad songs, pick the best 10-20 and throw them on the album :yeshrug:

This has always been the case though..

Fully structured cohesive albums were never the norm

Yeah this is just another example of people, as time passes, remembering standout albums from years gone by and completely forgetting the 90% of albums that came out at the same time that didn't come close to hitting those highs. The majority of albums, from the majority of music history, were not "experiences".

Its not about the “majority” its about there not being more than a literal couple of records a year fitting the criteria for what he's talking about
Cats usually have a problem with cohesive albums thinking it all sounds the same :beli: :francis:. Then complain when it sounds all over the place. Cats ears are trash.
cohesive doesn't mean monolithic, doggy style is cohesive but all the songs do not sound the same
