Most? Yeah
See a lot of 21-30 track albums that are like playlists with everything being thrown on top

Or

Dudes dropping 2 projects a year

This is where mixtapes and albums not being distinguishable and everything needing to be on DSP for streams causes this

It's not just the music, but it's partly the music, albums are too long, too bloated, unfocused.

A lot of it is how we experience it in 2025, as a flood of ads, or a streaming service, that social media dissects within hours, like jackals and moves on from within day.

A lot of it is how much older a lot of us are. Albums used to be something you waited months/a year for, and then PLAYED for months. You played that album non stop, in your room, in your CD player, in the car. Now, it's all a lot more choppy.

A lot of the time I'll be somewhere and comment on the music, and the people playing it don't even know who it is. That NEVER happened back then.

Fabolous has never made a cohesive album in his life

Loso's Way is pretty close. And that's a classic late 90's/2000's style of rap, and how the record is structured. And it was a little dated then, but compared to the sequencing now, it was masterful. I was saying about Jim Jones album, it doesn't have great sequencing.

Everything seems like a snippet. As soon as you start vibing to a song, the shyt is done.
Bossman DLow pretty much said this verbatim, and mentioned the reason he makes the songs the way he does is cause DJs “are only spinning half the song anyway”

That’s because the albums are playlists now. Factory made and designed to have at least one song for everybody. Several different writers to capture a separate vibe or demographic. It is what it is. It happens in every entertainment industry. You just gotta be more selective with who you choose to support. We can complain but if we not going out to see them on tour when they’re playing at a random bar in the city then it’s a dub.

That's not always a good thing.

Because frankly, there are entire Siifu albums I stopped listening to after 3 or 4 tracks because it just isn't my bag.

The most recent album is an example. I started it, stopped maybe 4 tracks in, and won't go back. It just isn't for me.

I have varied taste and don't need just one lane of music to find something enjoyable, but Black'!Antique was just noise to me.

Doesn't mean I won't check for the next album, but I have enough people I'm fans of and enough music I like to where if something isn't connecting, I just move on.

The shameless plug of Schoolboys worst album :heh:

A lot of these artists aren't producing entire projects purposely.... If some songs catch steam, that's what they'll package into an EP,tape or album.

At the same time, we can't just sit up here and act like every album previously was this full "experience".....cause i've sat through countless albums from yesteryear that were just a bunch of filler spaced between the 3 singles, an intro, an interlude and features from notable artists.

If you want to count the period where he was only rapping about death, all black, and shoe-icide. That technically does count.

I listen to a lot of Siifu after getting into his music late. There’s a lot of hit or miss stuff with me. I’m cool with these albums from him for life tho

The streaming ruined it for me. I miss seeing magazine ads of albums coming soon and finally getting the physical, reading which producers did what song sparking my dopamine waiting for that next song.

Pressing play on my phone and jus listening dont feel like im listening to a album, i dont know who produced what, who did the drums, who did the bass, who co-produced
:mjcry:
