I've got an insane amount of games, which can't fit on my hard drive, but.... but.... i've got a shyt load of external drives usb3. whats the pros and cons of playing on usb 3 external hard drive?
playing PC GAMES via a EXTERNAL usb hard drive? good idea? or nah breh?

10 years ago when I gamed on a laptop I ran them right off my HDD no problem and that was on USB2, I'd say go for it. Games are larger now but with USB3.0's bandwidth I don't imagine there being much of a problem.
The immediate cons I can think of is the possibility of the USB cable being faulty and causing intermittent issues with the game's performance, or you disconnected the drive accidentally or knocking it down.

even if the external is a ssd? how much longer? why is it longer on pc but not longer on consoles? playing on usb for consoles is faster for me than the cosnoles internal hard drive
Well, usb 3.0 is fast, but not as fast as an internal ssd.
If you buy an external SSD, the usb 3.0 will slow it down. I doesn't really make a lot of sense...

yeah, but i was being cheap, i have externals all over the house, but don't have any hdd lying around.

I would recommend a usb 3.1 type C ssd in your case.
them 3.5 and 2.5" external hds will be slower, even with usb 3.0.
