Thread is kinda

because if playing Joker was easy then nobody would've blinked when Health Ledger's name was announced. As it stands, most people immediately said there was no way in hell he could pull it off.
As far as actors, you can only be so creative within the constraints of the script and director's vision. Leto's Joker was David Ayer's vision. I don't understand why people shyt on Leto when he was jjust following the direction of Ayer.
Now, did the studio step in and fukk the movie up? Most definitely. But when it comes to that version of The Joker, Ayer filmed damn near an entire movie worth of scenes with him. So Leto's Joker being wack can't be blamed on the studio, either. All they did was fukk the editing up.
If I had to nail it down to one thing, as to why Leto's Joker was wack....there was nothing
Joker about him. It was just some crazy tatted up crime boss. He kinda reminded me of Gary Oldman's character from "True Romance".
