I still think there’s another showcase for Fall; maybe around September/October. This one was clearly meant to showcase third party, indie games. And Spiderman 2 had to be there too since it’s coming in a few months and an absence would get people talking.

im hoping this is the case. give a little taste to carry people through the summer and bring out the heavy hitters sometime in the fall.

I don’t have high hopes that the second showcase will be any better than the last one. 
The show didn't do much for Sony's brand, but it wasn't a good look that their first showcase in 18 months was an extended state of play. Also, doesn't help when insiders hype up these shows, which always leaves people disappointed. Anyways, at the end of the day it doesn't matter much because people will be enjoying Spiderman 2 and FF16. I just hope Sony doesn't shift too heavily on GaaS because it's a huge gamble, and this will be Jim Ryan's legacy imo because he inherited a Ferrari and he better not fumble.

I mean, people say they wanted sony to make multiplayer games and tired of them only making single player, this is the result. People are scared about the GAAS labeling but thats what all multiplayer games are these days even splatoon, mario kart, and smash bros are GAAS.
Even Just recently with the Activision deal drama everyone kept repeating verbatim “why has sony relied so much on COD all these years, hey could have been making their own shooters” ok, you got destiny, a new bungie shooter, a ubisoft shooter, and a ex-bungie team shooter.

So “insiders” hype up the show. The show ain’t that “hype” and then after the show they say “well some things i know weren’t shown”

They did pull away from this with the PS4 gen because in the PS3 gen they attempted many multiplayer games that may have found success if released today. I know most of the studios they recently acquired are for GaaS. However, I think it's a big gamble, but they need just 2 of those studios not named Bungie to hit. Once that happens they can put all of their resources in making that game a platform.
Anyways, it's an interesting gamble to make, and I feel for better or for worse this will be Jim Ryan's legacy as CEO.
