The timeline in boyz in the hood was 1984 - 1991. The timeline of Poetic Justice was spring 1992.


The guy who killed Ricky in Boyz in the hood is also in Poetic Justice. So unless he has a twin brother, he would’ve had to have killed Q-Tip summer 1990 rolling with a different crew.. almost a full year before he killed Ricky.

Which means Janet Jackson would’ve been mourning for at a minimum 2 years. Highly unlikely.
