The west wing is one of the worst things to ever happen to the democratic party. It broke their grasp on reality and made them think that the shyt that worked in a fictional TV show is what they need to emulate for real. Many of them see themselves as main characters in a TV show. They imagine what their biopic will look like and what kind of shyt they'll put in the book they'll inevitably write and go on tour promoting.*

It's all about speaking arrangements, selling books, and sitting on company boards. They have all that rhetoric about how Trump is an existential threat yet they'll NEVER show their faces or spend money to support Food not Bombs, John Brown Gun clubs, and you sure as fukk won't see Harris donating to or showing her face around any black panther chapter in California. While Trump is willing to embrace right wing groups and adopt their policies and the policies of his base, democrats will do the opposite.
And look at where it has gotten them.
