Been some debate over this, a lot of people saying no. I certainly view him as a certified Hip Hop legend. If you are 1 of the two rappers who made The Infamous and Hell On Earth I don't see how your not. Not to mention the classic features and shyt. Apparently no-one knows him though?. Which doesn't make sense to me as I've encountered personally people worldwide who know him. A legend's definition is in part very well known, or regarded as historical, I don't see how he is not well known? Or historical when Infamous is a historical album, even got 5 mics in The Source when they were more credible, albeit it later on. And P for a period was regarded as one of the best mc's, no less a person than Jay Z said this, what reason does he have to lie?

Sure.

The reason Jay-Z would be bigging up Prodigy is pretty simple; it makes his own defeat of the guy all that much more worthy. Kind of like how boxers like to big up opponents they beat, but the ones they lose to they'll blame it on themselves or be nonchalant about it.

I know Jay can be political, but he sounded sincere when he said that. He even said he wouldn't be in like a top 5 off all time or anything but he had a run where people considered him one of the best MC's.

Even Fat Joe who P dissed said they were legends. Mobb Deep inspired a lot of people, style and production also.

Yes. There's no question. Infamous, Hell on Earth, Murda Music alone are enough to put him in the Legendary Category. And that's not even half of his catalog. The longevity also puts him up there.

:ohlawd: @ all the Prodigy samples ALL over hip-hop. he's got to be one of the most quoted rappers in history.

If anybody else had made this thread I would have questioned their credibility off top for even asking.

You might have missed some of the conversations out bro. Numerous people were laughing at him being called a legend and saying it's ridiculous etc.

He has to be one of the most sampled Hip Hop artists. I'm thinking of a bunch of great songs over the top that have sampled P.
