Who's Your Favorite Young Adult Movie Adaptation Heroine?
Is it Katniss, Hermione, Bella, or Tris?

by Jim Vejvoda MARCH 24, 2014

As expected, Divergent debuted atop the weekend box office. The film is the latest in a long line of Young Adult genre fiction movie adaptations featuring female protagonists. But for every success story like The Hunger Games or Twilight, there is a Mortal Instruments, Beautiful Creatures, or The Host that are dead on arrival at the box office.

Given the (relative) success of Divergent this weekend (the film's gross in the weeks ahead will determine how viable a film franchise it will truly be), we'd like to know which YA movie heroine is your favorite. Is it Harry Potter's pal Hermione Granger? Divergent's Tris Prior? The Hunger Games' ace archer Katniss Everdeen? Or maybe you're ashamed to admit you're Bella Swan's No. 1 fan?

:patrice:I haven't seen "Divergent" yet, so I can't comment on it. But the "Twilight" series is:flabbynsick:, compared to the "Harry Potter" and :"The Hunger Games" series. So it's down to Hermione and Katniss for me.

I honestly don't lump Harry Potter in with the YA book movement. The Potter series is on some Charlie & the Chocolate Factory/Lemony Snicket type level. It's children's lit but still actual literature.
Twilight, Hunger Games and the rest of them are just pulp marketed to teens.
